A Ford Gen-E Underway?

Ford Motor Co., newly filed trademarks for the name Gen-E in Europe. The freshly trademarked ‘Gen-E’ may debut a brand-new vehicle for America’s favorite EV automaker. 

On February 20, 2023, a serial number (02269/2023) was assigned to the content of the application terminology labeled goods and services. The trademark filing states “Motorfahrzeuge, nämlich Automobile, Elektrofahrzeuge, Geländelimousinen und deren Strukturteile.” The description translates to “motor vehicles, namely automobiles, electric vehicles, SUVs, and structural parts.”

What Ford Enthusiasts Should Expect 

The Blue Oval has proven itself a worthy car maker in the electric vehicle segment. Ford harbors a combination of EVs, like the F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, E-Transit, and various other Transit models (mainly in European markets). Nevertheless, the American automaker invested $50 billion to strengthen its electrification goals. As a result, the Blue Stable intends to assemble two million EVs every year by 2026. In addition to amplifying production Ford plans to drastically extend its lineup in the impending future with vehicles like the Puma EV, Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and Trust the Truck, commonly referred to as Project T3. Furthermore, the Project plans to erect an all-electric pickup that will come to life at the Blue Oval City. 

However, it has not been disclosed what Ford’s trademark filing for the Gen-E will warrant. Yet, given the name and trademark description, it’s safe to assume that it may be a singular electric vehicle or an entire fleet. America’s favorite automaker will announce several new all-electric vehicles in Europe by 2024, with more cars in underway. 

Ford’s trademark filing may reveal itself as one model or even an entire lineup, one that addresses the automaker’s EV plans. Moreover, even with the filing stemming from Switzerland, it may also wander around other countries.
