The Halloween game of Ryan McManus, the Product Design Director at Ford, has reached new heights. In the previous year, Ryan had converted the frunk of his Mustang Mach-E into a candy dispenser. This year, he has surpassed himself by designing an even more exceptional configuration on his latest F-150 Lightning. Through his resourcefulness and inventiveness, Ryan has guaranteed that the truck-or-treaters had a memorable Halloween.

As Halloween drew near, parents and guardians increasingly sought a fun and secure alternative to the traditional trick-or-treating for their children. The trend of “trunk-or-treating” has gained popularity, where parents transform the parking lots, usually of schools or churches, into a festive and spooky environment by decorating their vehicles with creative and eye-catching themes.

Last year’s trunk-or-treating event was taken to the next level by a Ford designer named Ryan McManus. He created a sensation by transforming a Cyber Orange Mustang Mach-E GT into a demon’s mouth, complete with foam core teeth and strobe lights. The car was a hit with both kids and adults alike. This year (2023), McManus has once again let his design skills and creativity loose to craft an unforgettable Halloween experience. With his electric Ford F-150 Lightning, he has created a unique and exciting trunk-or-treat scene that delighted everyone who attended.

With an air of confidence, he skillfully set up a small HDTV and created a stunningly eerie video of red clouds and swirling mists to achieve the perfect “hellmouth” effect. He then strategically placed a smoke machine behind the TV, which, when combined with red strobe lights, created a spooky ambiance that would have given his neighbors a bit of a scare. Going a step further, he added foam core teeth similar to those he used in his previous year’s Mach-E effort. However, this time, he astutely excluded the bottom row of teeth to make it easier for kids to access the candy stored in the “cooler” area of the frunk. To take the ambiance to another level, he added a “Fast and Furious-style” underglow kit that reacts to the sound and changes color according to the music, creating a mesmerizing visual display. Every piece of the F-150 Lightning’s theatrics is powered by its battery, which is even more impressive.
