A Top Competitor in the EV Market? Here’s the Ford Mustang Mach-E
Since its debut, the Ford Mustang Mach-E has continued to dominate the EV market. The all-electric crossover SUV has quickly amassed fans with its impeccable performance and efficiency. It has also accumulated numerous awards, including the World Car of the Year Award and the Guinness World Record for Efficiency. Competing in the EV market has proven challenging for some EVs, but the Mustang Mach-E has proven that it can do more than just hold up. Ford also offers its all-electric F-150 Lightning pickup truck which has also received overwhelming acclaim. For now, we’ll take a look at the Ford Mustang Mach-E and see how it has fared so well in the emerging EV market.
What Does the Ford Mustang Mach-E Offer?
The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E comes equipped with either a 70 kWh battery or Ford’s extended range 91 kWh battery pack. These batteries supply the SUV’s electric motor with power. Depending on whether owners mount the motor to the rear axle or both, they will be offered more power and performance. Combining both motors offers drivers 480 horsepower and 634lb-ft of torque. It also offers drivers all-wheel drive. With higher-level trims like the GT, drivers will be happy to note that the electric Mustang Mach-E can hit a 0-60 mph time in just 3.7 seconds.
Looking inside the Mach-E, owners will note a spacious and stylish interior cabin. The Mach-E provides additional space in the front due to the battery being underneath the floor. As for cargo space, there’s 29 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 60 cubic feet with the seats folded down. The digital gauge cluster inside the crossover SUV is very modern. The Mach-E features a 15.5-inch vertically oriented touchscreen which serves as the infotainment system. It comes compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and can also receive over-the-air updates. The Mach-E also features several performance modes–Unbridled, Engage, and Whisper– that can be selected via the touchscreen.
As for its range capability, the Ford Mustang Mach-E offers up to 314 miles with an extended battery. Ford provides a fast charger with each Mach-E which is simple and easy to use. Owners can also opt for faster DC chargers as well as a mobile charger for on-the-go needs. For safety, the Mach-E makes use of Ford Co-Pilot 360 technology which includes automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane keep assist, and Ford’s BlueCruise adaptive cruise control. There’s also a 360-degree camera as well as a rearview camera. The Ford Mustang Mach-E starts at an MSRP of $43,895 (plus destination fee). Due to high demand, Ford has had to put orders on pause, however. Fortunately, the Blue Oval will be opening order banks soon.
