All-Wheel Drive for the New 2022 Ford Edge

Last year’s Ford Edge embodied front-wheel drive on the SE, SEL, ST-Line, and Titanium trims. All-Wheel drive was optional and standard for the Edge ST. The crossover reigns as a beautiful source of traction for the blue-oval, but Ford is looking to amplify with the 2022 Ford Edge. Sources close to the 2022 Ford Edge launch expressed that every trim level receives AWD.     

What was once a dynamic duo like Shaq and Kobe just became the All-Star trio, much like Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman. The Ford Bronco, Ford Bronco Sport, and the Ford Edge are the only Ford vehicles sold with AWD. The 2022 Ford Explorer ST is similar to Jordan in 94’, moving in the opposite direction with rear-wheel drive as the standard.  

The 2022 Ford Maverick features AWD and is equipped with Ford’s 2.0L EcoBoost 1-4. Unfortunately, this Ford Maverick premieres where the best bacon and maple syrup reside (Canada). The hybrid base Maverick is available only with FWD, and the Maverick EcoBoosts equipped with FWD, with AWD being optional.  

Revived and full of life, sometimes a few minor tweaks go a long way. Starting with the outside, the 2022 Edge features a rear liftgate with an updated backside. In addition, the “Edge” logo is relocated and conspicuous, with two new exterior colors: Carbonized Gray and Lithium Gray.   

The 2022 Edge also has a new 12-inch infotainment screen, SYNC 4A with inbuilt navigation, conversational voice recognition, two auxiliary USB ports, and the cherry on top, a digital’s owners manual. But, of course, the outside has to reflect the inside. That’s right! The new trim options will premier for 2022, such as the Ceramic interior for the Titanium Elite trim and Cloth interior for the SEL.
