Ford Earns America’s No.1 Truck Manufacturer Title Once Again
Ford’s trucks, electric vehicles, and new launches boosted sales, making it America’s top-selling brand with an impressive 11.2 percent gain in Q2 (2023)
.The Blue Oval continues to dominate the automotive market, maintaining its position as the top-selling brand in America and delivering the best-selling truck in the country for an impressive 46 years in a row. The American automaker’s success continues to grow, with Q2 of 2023 showing a 26.2 percent increase in truck sales due to the new Super Duty and improved inventory flow.
Quarter 2 marks the second consecutive quarterly gain for the magic pony maker. Additionally, it’s Ford’s best Q2 sales performance since pre-Covid 2019. The American automaker was also the No.1 selling truck manufacturer in Q2 and for the first half of the year (2023), with sales climbing 26.2 percent in Q2 alone. Ford’s truck sales totaled 549,625 through the first half of 2023, up 23.1 percent, and has outsold General Motors trucks and vans by about 61,000. Blue Oval trucks, electric vehicles, and new launches play a significant role in their impressive sales performance, solidifying the carmaker’s position as a top player in the automotive industry.
Electric Vehicle Sales Increase as Well
Ford’s electric vehicle sales are thriving, driven by the success of the F-150 Lightning and Mach-E models. The Ford EVs are popular due to their increased inventory and consumer demand, which has led to an overall increase in sales.
“Ford achieved both best-selling brand and truck for six consecutive months this year on the strength of F-Series, vans, our new Escape, and F-150 Lightning. Our EV sales continue to grow. Improved Mustang Mach-E inventory flow began to hit at the end of Q2 following the retooling of our plant earlier this year, which helped Mustang Mach-E sales climb 110 percent in June.”
– Vice President of Ford’s Sales Distribution and Trucks, Andrew Frick
Ford’s commercial vehicle sales are also doing well, with the Transit leading as America’s best-selling van in Q2 with sales of 32,031 – a 30.1 percent increase compared to Q2 of 2022. The Blue Oval’s E-Series vans also demonstrated impressive growth, increasing by 63.7 percent in Q2 and up by 55.7 percent this year (2023). The Blue Oval is currently the top seller in the commercial market, based on the most recent registration data through April (2023). The automaker’s share of U.S. Class 1-7 commercial trucks and vans increased to 40.3 percent, a 1.0 percentage point increase from last year. (2022). It’s great to witness Ford excel across multiple vehicle categories.

It’s impressive that it has impacted over 90 million hands-free driven miles, a 40 percent increase since the end of Q1 (2023). The latest version of BlueCruise, version 1.2, allows for hands-free lane changes with a simple turn signal tap and delivers a smoother driving experience.
