Ford F-150 Manages to Save Wedding Reception
Ford has been making headlines recently with its all-new all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning, the return of the Ford Bronco, and the all-electric Mustang Mach-E SUV. Now the automaker is making news again as its vehicles continue to provide consumers with ease of function and a full range of capabilities. The latest accomplishment for Ford comes from the 2021 Ford F-150. The powerful and durable pickup became the hero of the evening at a wedding reception in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Despite a power outage from a big rainstorm, the pickup was able to save the day with its onboard power generator.
2021 Ford F-150 Saves the Day
It was a weekday night and everyone was having a good time. The groom and bride and their guests were enjoying the night and celebrating a joyous moment. That was until a huge rainstorm abruptly ended the festivities. The power outage lasted almost two hours before one of the guests had a brilliant idea to save the day. That guest was Harish Thiruvengadam, a mechanical engineer at Ford. Thankfully Harish had his Ford F-150 with him that night. Fully aware of the capabilities of the powerful pickup, Harish was able to ease the guest’s worries with his idea to connect all the lights, music speakers, amplifiers, and microphones to his Ford F-150 pickup truck. The pickup was only equipped with four power outlets, but multiple items were plugged into power strips. And so, the Ford F-150 was able to save the rest of the evening reception. About his heroic efforts Harish said:
“It was such an abrupt thing. We thought maybe it was a circuit breaker,” said Harish Thiruvengadam. “The groom was ready to call it a night. There was no other option. Then I remembered the PowerBoost. I backed the truck up onto the lawn, took the cords and stretched them across the lawn and, oh my God. No one could believe there were outlets in the pickup bed. They thought there was a generator, but there was no loud sound.”
Harish was able to save the evening with his quick thinking and the power of his Ford F-150. The standard 2021 Ford F-150 comes equipped with a Pro Power onboard generator. This generator allows drivers to use their trucks as mobile generators. The Pro Power Onboard generator comes with three available outputs—2.0kW, 2.4kW, and 7.2kW. Drivers can plug whatever needs power into the outlets located in the pickup’s cab and box. From there, they can use either the SYNC4 screen inside the truck or the FordPass app to monitor wattage. The 2.4kW and 7.2kW are available with Ford’s new 3.5L PowerBoost full hybrid V6 engine which delivers even more power, an impressive 430 horsepower and 570lb-ft of torque.
The 2021 Ford F-150 has come in handy beforehand, saving one owner in Texas during the winter storms in early 2021. That Ford owner was able to power his house during a blackout that affected millions. Now the Ford F-150 is saving the day again. The Michigan couple were able to enjoy their wedding reception night and keep the party going. The bride, Rachna Nanda Kumar said of the evening,
“It was amazing,” said Rachna Nanda Kumar. “Everybody was just getting into their groove and, with the help of the F-150, the party lasted until 2 a.m. or 3 a.m.”
