Ford Performance will be working on a new Mustang GT3 race car. The motorsport division will be collaborating with one of their long-time partners, Multimatic Motorsports. Together, the two divisions will work to create a high-performance Mustang GT3 capable of competing in the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) as well as the 24 Hours of Daytona. Mustang fans will be happy to know that Ford is also working on the next-generation Mustang. For now, however, the automaker will be focusing on a race-ready GT3. We’ll see what the two divisions are considering for the GT3 but based on their track record, we think we’re in for something special.

Ford Performance and Multimatic to Work on Mustang GT3

Ford Performance will be teaming up with Multimatic Motorsports to work on an all-new Mustang GT3 race car. The two motorsport divisions will collaborate once again to produce a race-ready GT3. The high-performance Mustang will then go on to compete in the IMSA as well as the 24 Hours of Daytona. The coach for Ford Performance Joey Hand, a 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours GTE Pro class winner, will be test driving the Mustang GT3. About the new Mustang, Ford Performance’s global director Mark Rushbrook said,

“Mustang was born to race from the start and we’re thrilled to introduce the GT3 version to compete head-to-head against some of the greatest manufacturers in the world,” said Mark Rushbrook. “With 58 years of global endurance racing heritage, including NASCAR and Australian Supercars today, we are ready to take Mustang to the next level of global performance.”

The all-new Mustang GT3 will be powered by a Ford 5.0L Coyote-based V8 engine. This engine will be built by the world championship team M-Sport of Cumbria, England. With so many professional hands working on the new Mustang, it will be the vehicle to watch during the race season. The new GT3 race car will also feature a bespoke short-long arm suspension front and rear, a rear-mounted transaxle gearbox, carbon fiber body panels, and an aero package developed specifically for the GT3. For those wondering if this new Mustang will ever be released to the public, Ford and Multimatic will make the GT3 Mustang available at the start of the 2024 season. Together the two companies will work to create one hell of a Mustang. About Multimatic’s talents, Rushbrook said,

“Multimatic Motorsports is the perfect partner on this project for us,” said Rushbrook. “Not only have they worked with us to develop numerous customer Mustang programs in the past, but its work on the Ford GT program and the new Bronco DR customer race programs has shown together we can provide championship-level race programs for Ford and its customers.”
