Ford will be making several changes and updates to its 2022 SUV lineup. The automaker has been steadily releasing fan favorites like the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Bronco, and Expedition. Ford has enjoyed immense success and it seems as it continues to move toward electric vehicles like the F-150 Lightning, it will be taking care to not leave older models behind. For the 2022 model year, Ford will be making changes and adding new equipment to various SUVs. These changes and updates will consist of new paint colors, new packages, and new powertrains. We’ll detail which models will receive changes, but it’s good to see Ford being consistent and maintaining its lineup.

Ford to Make Changes to Several SUVs

Ford will be making several changes and updates to its 2022 SUV lineup. Some of these changes will include new paint colors like for the 2022 Ford Escape. The 2022 Escape and Escape Hybrid will receive three new paint colors—Atlas Blue, Dark Flight Blue, and Silvery Iced Blue. These will be the only changes for this SUV. Other SUVs like the 2022 Ford Bronco will receive new colors and packages. For the 2022 model year, the Bronco will get Bronze Smoke, Hot Pepper Red, and Velocity Blue as new paint options. For its packages, the Bronco will have its Big Bend Package renamed to the Convenience Package and the Outer Banks Package will be changed to the Tech Package. The Badlands Package will also now be the Premium Package. Additionally, Ford stated that it would release more information about the Bronco Everglades trim.

Other SUVs Receiving Changes, 2022 Ford Explorer

Ford will be making changes to other SUVs including the 2022 Explorer, 2022 Edge, 2022 Mustang Mach-E, and 2022 Expedition. For the 2022 Ford Explorer, the sporty ST trim will replace its rear-wheel-drive system with an all-wheel drive. The ST-Line package for the Explorer XLT trim will add a sportier exterior and interior, but it will keep the same powertrain and chassis. The King Ranch and Platinum trims will feature a larger touchscreen and a 14-speaker premium audio system. They will also have a 400-horsepower twin-turbo V6 available.  Additionally, all Explorer trims will have second-row captain’s or bench seats equipped.

2022 Ford Edge

For the 2022 model year, the 2022 Ford Edge will be receiving all-wheel drive across all trims. All Edge trims will also get a revised tailgate design. New paint colors—Flight Blue and Forged Greens—will also be available. Owners will also be able to opt for equipment like cargo area organizers, mudflaps, roof rack cross bars, and a locking center console bin. There will also be new packages including the Black Appearance Package and the Adventure Package. The Black Appearance Package includes badging, a new grille, mirror caps, and 19-inch wheels. The Adventure Package includes 18-inch wheels, stain-resistant upholstery, blue detail stitching, and gray/black exterior trim pieces.

2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E

For the 2022 Mach-E, Ford will equip the Select trim with 19-inch dark silver-painted wheels with aero covers. The California Route 1 trim will feature an optional dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain. All 2022 Mach-Es will also come standard with heated front seats and steering wheels. The GT trim will feature a black-painted roof as an alternative to the glass roof. Lastly, the 2022 Mach-E will receive three new colors including Iced Blue, Grabber Blue, and Cyber Orange.

2022 Ford Expedition

The 2022 Ford Expedition will feature a revised front fascia, a new steering wheel, a reworked dashboard, and new lighting elements. There will be a larger touchscreen, 12 inches or 15.5 inches, and software will be upgradeable via over-the-air updates. The 2022 Expedition will receive a Stealth Edition Performance Package and driver assist features like lane departure warnings and emergency evasive steering will come standard. Ford’s BlueCruise Level 2 will also be available which is the automaker’s hands-free driving system.

The 2022 Expedition gets a new Timberline trim which makes it more off-road capable. This trim features a trail-tuned suspension, big all-terrain tires, a transfer case, locking rear differential, and underbody skid plates. There’s also an all-terrain drive mode and a trail turn assist system included which was borrowed from the Bronco.
