Ford’s August Sales Boom: Trucks, Hybrids, and Luxury Models Drive a Thrilling Comeback

Ford is back in the fast lane! The iconic American automaker saw a significant boost in U.S. sales in August (2024), fueled by a summer surge in car buying and an exciting lineup of new trucks. With 182,985 vehicles sold, the Pony Maker experienced a 13% jump compared to last year (2024). This growth also reflects a step up from July’s (2024) 173,000 units, securing Ford’s position as the nation’s best-selling brand for the second month in a row, with a market share of 12.6%.

Trucks were the stars of the show, with sales rising 12% to 103,011 units. The beloved F-series trucks, known for their durability and power, saw their best month in 2024, crossing the 70,000-unit mark for the first time this year (2024). This resurgence comes after a slow start to the year (2024) as the American automaker worked through delays in delivering the new F-150.

Ford also made waves in the hybrid market, with sales skyrocketing by 50% to 16,394 units. The Ford Maverick and F-150 hybrid pickups led the way, showing that consumers are eager for vehicles that blend performance with fuel efficiency. Ford’s recent decision to focus on hybrids is already paying off, as the company shifts from a planned electric SUV to next-generation hybrid models. In line with this strategy, Ford has also delayed its next-gen electric truck, “Project T3,” to late 2027, adjusting its plans for an electric truck plant in Tennessee.

Still, Ford’s electric vehicle (EV) lineup is hitting the mark. EV sales climbed 29% in August (2024)  to 8,944 units, driven by solid performances from the Mustang Mach-E and the F-150 Lightning EV, which saw an astounding 161% increase.

Meanwhile, Ford’s luxury brand, Lincoln, continues to impress, with sales up 49% to 9,841 units in August (2024). The stylish new Lincoln Nautilus SUV stole the spotlight, achieving its best August in 17 years with a 57% rise in sales. Adding to the excitement, Ford recently unveiled the all-new Lincoln Navigator full-size SUV at the exclusive Pebble Beach event, signaling more innovation on the horizon.
