The F-150 Lightning also offers 775lb-ft of torque so owners can utilize up to 10,000 pounds of towing capacity. Ford has also updated the truck’s towing capability by adding Pro Trailer Hitch Assist which automatically controls steering and brake inputs. 

2) The F-150 Lightning Features an Onboard Generator

Another reason to consider the 2023 F-150 Lightning is its Onboard Generator. The Ford Pro Power Onboard Generator is a powerful system that allows F-150 Lightning owners to charge a variety of things including other vehicles. The generator utilizes the truck’s battery to provide power wherever owners need it. Owners can also make use of several available power outlets found on the truck. These include two 120-volt outlets in the cab, four in the bed, and four in the frunk. There’s also a 240-volt outlet available for the truck bed. 

3) The F-150 Lightning Has Impressive Range

One feature of EVs many automakers have struggled with is range. Thankfully Ford has that covered as the Lightning has been updated to offer 240 miles of range. Previously the electric pickup came standard with just 230 miles, but Ford has boosted that amount. While it’s only 10 additional miles, with EVs this is certainly an appreciable amount. Those seeking even more range can also opt for the range extender which bumps the range up to an impressive 320 miles.

This is thanks to the pickup’s independent front and rear suspensions which provides smooth driving regardless of the terrain.

Another notable feature of the Ford Lightning is its interior. The Lightning comes with a crew-cab configuration that offers owners a roomy four-door cabin. Spacious and comfortable, owners will enjoy the large infotainment display as well as the panoramic sunroof. Thanks to the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act, consumers can now take advantage of new tax credit incentives for purchasing EV vehicles. This means those interested in the F-150 Lightning can qualify for up to $7,500 off their total purchase. There are some limits, however, such as the EV pickup having to be capped at under $80,000. This shouldn’t cause too much worry since the base 2023 F-150 Lightning starts at $46,974 (plus destination fee). This still leaves room for additional packages and upgrades all while still qualifying for the tax credit.
