Searching For the Right Ford Pickup?
Ford Maverick 2022
Finding the proper pickup is an insatiable feeling, but thank goodness Ford left no pickup behind. Since moving back into a market previously neglected, Ford has unleashed an array of midsize trucks, starting with the debut of the compact 2022 Ford Maverick. But don’t get it twisted; there’s nothing typical about this compact vehicle.Â
The Maverick comes equipped with the standard hybrid drivetrain, traveling at 40 mpg, and that’s just throughout the city. Usually, pickup trucks are constructed on a body-on-frame layout, but the Maverick– unibody construction. But even with its untraditional construct, the Maverick is built to endure a maximum capacity of 1,500 pounds. As a result, the payload capacity is over 100 pounds more than the payload of the existing 2021 Ford F-150 hybrid. Â
The Maverick was showcased at the 2021 Chicago Auto Show, sparking curiosity and comparisons between the 2022 Maverick and the 2021 Ford Ranger. Here’s what the interiors had to offer.Â
The Driver’s SeatÂ
The Maverick and the Ranger are like siblings, constructed by the same manufacturer, existing in two different worlds. Stepping into the Maverick is a slight step down, whereas the Ranger requires a considerable step up. Once inside, the Maverick’s driving position parallels being inside of a compact SUV. Whereas the Ranger provides taller seating, making this truck feel like a truck.Â
Ground clearance is almost the same in both vehicles, but the Maverick provides a four-wheel drive with 8.6 inches of ground clearance and 4WD with 8.9 inches of ground clearance on the base model of the Ranger.Â
Backseat ActionÂ
The Maverick is almost a foot shorter than the crew-cab Ranger. The main difference between the two vehicles is the Maverick’s compact cargo box, which is a half-foot less than the Rangers. However, even with a smaller cargo box, the Maverick’s rear seating provides more solace than the Ranger’s.Â
The Maverick’s rear seating appeals as more spacious as the knee-up feeling accompanies you in the backseat of the Ranger. Passenger visibility is eminent but unfortunately at the expense of headroom due to the headliner placed above the backseat. Though legroom isn’t different between the two trucks, the Maverick’s backseat appears more accomodating.Â
Deliberation is inÂ
If this post didn’t help the indecisive, it boils down to which truck provides the best use. The Ranger offers a towing capacity of 7,500-pounds which encompasses the Maverick’s 2,000-pounds. Not to mention the Range’s cargo box is more extensive. The Maverick’s cabin is more contemporary, comfortable, and distinctive. The Maverick is also composed of unibody construction that may not appeal to truck drivers used to the body-on-frame feel. Nevertheless, the Maverick may be the truck for consumers who’ve never considered pickup trucks before.Â
