The 2023 Ford Maverick & 2024 Ford Ranger are at it Again!
Two powerhouse pickups, deriving from the same automaker, the midsize Ford Ranger and compact Maverick, deliver exceptional performance. Unfortunately, the Ranger needed to be updated and upstaged by the compact efficiency of the Maverick. Fortunately, the 2024 Ford Ranger is eager to change its relationship with enthusiasts. At the same time, the 2023 Ford Maverick carries over minimal changes into the next model year. So here’s why the refreshed Ranger deserves fresh-minded enthusiasts.Â
The reimagined Ford Ranger reveals a bold exterior with similar design cues from its influencer, the full-size F150. In addition, the Ranger sports a more extensive grille plus matrix LED headlights. Head to the rear, and new taillights await.Â
The exterior isn’t the only redesigned feature; the Ranger’s interior offers a premium appeal and feel that intimidates the Maverick. In addition, the lone Ranger features premium soft-touch materials, the SYNC 4 infotainment system, and a vertical touchscreen. Moreover, the next-generation pickup will become available for the US for the 2024 model year, and other international markets may receive the vehicle for the 2023 model year.Â
The 2024 Ford Ranger is an Off-RoaderÂ
The 2023 Ford Ranger is already a force in the off-road segment. The midsize pickup delivers a four-wheel drive system that effectively dominates grueling terrains compared to the Maverick’s all-wheel drive system. Sadly, all-wheel drive isn’t available for the standard hybrid variation of the Maverick, but we’re hopeful for its future.Â
The midsize Ford’s off-road capabilities prove even better as the years progress, but with the US inheriting the Ranger Raptor, enthusiasts will climb uncharted territories. The Ford Ranger Raptor will include the following:
- Higher ground clearance.
- Fox shock absorbers.
- Rear coil-spring suspension.
- Chubby all-terrain tires.
- An attitude confident enough to tackle the wilderness. Â
Â
The Ford Ranger Over the Maverick?Â
The Ford Ranger offers a more potent engine than the Maverick. The standard engine for the mid-size pickup is a turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine generating 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. At the same time, the Ranger Raptor offers a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine that outputs 288 horsepower and 491 lb-ft of torque.Â
The Ford Maverick hybrid’s standard powertrain delivers 191 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, the compact pickup features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that yields 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque which is immeasurable compared to the Ranger.Â
It’s no secret the Ranger tows a heftier capacity compared to its little brother, the Maverick. The mid-size pickup offers 7,500 lbs of maximum towing capacity compared to the Maverick’s 4,000 lbs. Furthermore, the Ford Ranger delivers a higher maximum payload capacity, making hauling 1,860 lbs in the pickup bed a breeze.Â
With the 2024 Ford Ranger’s immaculate redesign, the 2023 Ford Maverick has much catching up to do for the 2024 model year.Â
