The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E is the vehicle everybody wants to have, and now it will become the vehicle that most wish they would’ve owned. Regrettably, Ford Motor Co. had to cease reservations for the EV SUV on April 19, 2022.

The Blue Oval automaker is no stranger to the parts depletion. Additionally, the automaker placed a stoppage on production back in February of 2022. Ford lacked an adequate amount of semiconductors. Furthermore, in the coming days (March 2022), the master pony maker declined orders for the Mach-E’s California Route 1 and Premium trims.

Regrettably, there are no more Mustang Mach-E’s available for purchase. If any enthusiasts need some reassurance, because we get it, trust issues, head over to the Ford Mustang Mach-E website or Electrek, the electric transportation news site, for the unfortunate news.

Several days ago, on April 19th (2022), Deutsche Bank addressed the issue with the automaker’s investors:

“Longer term, the automaker will be looking to triple its installed capacity for the EV by 2023 to ensure it can meet demand on a go-forward basis.”

 -Deutsche Banknote

“Due to unprecedented demand, retail order banks are closed for the MY22 (Model Year 2022) in the U.S. We will continue to sell the limited number of units remaining from dealer stock. We will communicate MY23 (Model Year 2023) ordering details as soon as available.”

 -Ford Spokeswoman, Emma Bergg

Being the Cool Kid is Pretty Demanding

This year Ford intends to expand its production of the Mustang Mach-E with some added assistance from the automaker’s Cuautitlan Stamping and Assembly Plant in Mexico. In addition to the assembly expansion, the Blue Oval automaker has plans to provide 200,000 units annually by 2023. The automaker of the year wanted to release a third electric vehicle, but the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lighting are too popular not to expand on. So the third Ford EV will take a back seat until the smoke clears.

Ford Spokeswoman Bergg also mentioned that production for its 2023 EV lineup would begin in the Fall of 2022, and distribution would commence as soon as 2023.

The E-Transit is Famous Too

The Ford Mustang Mach-E isn’t the only electric vehicle in the automaker’s lineup eager to energize the summer. The Ford E-Transit is the other groovy newbie popular enough to hang out with faculty and staff. On April 18, 2022, Penske Automotive (an international transportation service) announced that it had ordered 750 E-Transit vans.

“The order is the latest among a growing list of commercial customers to buy the new vehicle, including FedEx, UPS, Walmart and DHL.”

– Deutsche Bank

In January of 2022, Time100’s most influential company received over 10,000 reservations for the electric van. Of those 10,000 orders, Walmart made up 1,100 of those orders. The E-Transit is assembled at the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri.

Frito-Lays jumped in on the sustainable wave to announce that the chip vendor acquired a “fleet” of E-Transit vehicles for the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Ford delivered Frito-Lay’s first round of E-Transit vans on April 22, 2022 (Earth day), and more deliveries will occur during summer.

“Frito-Lay has already achieved 100% renewable electricity for all of its U.S. plants, offices and distribution centers. In addition, all Frito-Lay U.S. manufacturing sites use LED lighting.”

 – Frito-Lay

There are hundreds of other companies who look to shadow Frito-Lays on the trail to sustainable transportation. But, as Ford’s excellence continues to diversify in its electric vehicle lineup, these companies will have no excuse as the 2040 goal of zero-emissions draws near.
