What’s Known About the 2024 Ford Mustang

Blue Mustang Sports Car Tires Smoke

As internal-combustion engines reach the end of their road, the Ford Mustang assures that the ICE engine still has time left before its expiration date. The seventh-generation pony will premiere in September of 2022. Although little is known about the long-term intentions of the Mustang, the all-new sports car will hold true to its 60-year mantra by turning gasoline into the fireworks of noise, tire smoke, and jaw-drops.

For several months there have been a few camouflaged prototypes roaming around. But now, Ford officials have hinted at what’s next for the next-gen sports car. So here’s what we know about the upcoming Mustang

Powertrain

The Ford Mustang will maintain its V8 engine, and we know this because early spy photos capture a V8 Mustang prototype. Eventually, Ford execs confirmed that the sports car would sustain the zesty engine. Moreover, the 5.0-liter V8 engine may require a little refinement to produce more than the mighty 450 horsepower it currently renders.

Aside from the V8, the turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine will also carry over into the new Mustang. However, many enthusiasts questioned whether the Ford sports car would inherit some electric power. Many speculated that the 2024 model would offer a plug-in hybrid variation with an all-wheel-drive powertrain. Unfortunately, there’s been no confirmation or taunting from the Blue Oval automaker about a hybrid, so we don’t anticipate seeing one by the September launch date. Furthermore, Ford has established that the new Mustang will provide the optional six-speed manual, not just automatic.

Style

Why fix what isn’t broken, especially regarding the Mustang’s design? The 2024 Ford Sports car boasts a more prominent grille for the GT trim with a low fascia that parallels the appeal; of the moderately larger grille on the current Shelby GT500. Additional enlargements may include the corner vents, with the headlights becoming thinner for a sharper look. For the Mustang EcoBoost trim, the sports cars grille will remain the same; however, the lower fascia may feature smaller vents.

With so many prototypes cruising around Detriot, there have been a few noticeable upgrade packages. For instance, there was a prototype zooming around with dynamic exhaust tips, refined brakes, and the stickiest super-sticky tires. The prototype’s appearance has somewhat confirmed what to expect for the future Mustang GT performance package and the limited-edition trim, the California Special, which will launch sometime after the 24′ Mustangs release. Furthermore, the highly-anticipated Shelby trim will reappear, but no confirmation yet on the Mach 1, Boss, or Bullitt.

Debut

There’s something phenomenal amid the seventh-generation Mustang’s release. The car cover will officially come off by September 14th (2022) at the Hart Plaza in downtown Detroit. After that, Mustang enthusiasts will find themselves tied to the hip with the Blue Oval as the automaker intends to host events for the sports car. Ford will begin with the cross-country drive known as The Drive Home. The Drive Home will also start in Tacoma, Washington, and make pit stops in eight other states. Furthermore, once the Drive Home makes it to the Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, Detroit, on September 14th (2022), The Stampede begins.

The Stampede is a cruise of the Mustang from the Ford Headquarters to its reveal location. Additionally, The Stampede will begin at 5:00 PM, depart at 5:30 PM, and reach Downton by 6:30 PM. From there, the 2024 Ford Mustang will debut at 8:00 PM, and Stampeded participants will receive an exclusive invite to the after-party.

The Drive Home and The Stampede welcome all enthusiasts, but there’s limited capacity for The Stampede’s registration.
