A Comprehensive Look at the 2022 Ford Expedition

For the 2022 model year, the Expedition features a revised exterior and interior, a new stealth package, and new driver-assist features. Driving the 2022 Ford Expedition

The 2022 Ford Expedition comes equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 engine that’s capable of 380 horsepower and 470lb-ft of torque. The family-sized SUV comes paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and owners can opt for either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. For 2022, Ford reworked the independent rear suspension to provide a more comfortable ride experience for passengers. Drivers may note some difficulty with handling, but this isn’t too much of a challenge. As with previous Expeditions models, the new 2022 Expedition gets up to 9300 pounds of towing capacity with the required towing package.

For EPA ratings, the 2022 Expedition gets 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. With the all-wheel-drive version of the SUV, mpg on the highway comes down slightly to 22.

Inside the 2022 Ford Expedition 

Owners of the 2022 Ford Expedition will note a large cabin with plenty of room. The family-sized SUV can comfortably fit 8 passengers including their cargo. The SUV manages to provide 104.6 cubic feet of room behind the first row, 63.6 cubic feet behind the second row, and 20.9 cubic feet behind the third. This is made possible given the SUV’s third-row reclining seats and second-row tip-and-slide seats. The spacious SUV was built to fit passengers comfortably while packing enough power to tow and haul cargo. Inside the family-sized SUV is a 12.0-inch touchscreen that runs Ford’s Sync4 infotainment software which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 2022 Expedition comes equipped with driver-assist and safety features like Ford’s hands-free-driving BlueCruise system and trail turn assist. For safety, the SUV gets standard forward-collision warnings, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warnings, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.

As far as trims go, the 2022 Ford Expedition features several including the base XL, XLT, Limited, Timberline, King Ranch, and Platinum. The base 2022 Expedition starts at an MSRP of $52,775 (plus destination fee). As consumers go up in trims, the Expedition will feature higher quality materials inside the cabin, additional driver-assist features, and more luxurious sound systems like the 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen speaker. The price scales all the way up to an MSRP of $78,460 (plus destination fee) for the highest-end trim, the Platinum.
