They submitted technical illustrations to the US patent in 2017, alluding to a twin motor drive system, which premiered a traditional Mustang layout with an eight-cylinder powerplant in V-configuration. By sending power to the rear axle, this indicates a four-wheel-drive car, with battery-powered energy towards the front wheels and performance driving when the car’s rear axle loses traction. 

The seventh-generation will mark the last old-fashioned Ford Mustang. After that, Ford will be all-electric by 2028. But before then, the seventh generation will be released around 2022-23. Ford Motor Company has always been a pioneer no matter the odds, so doubling down on the new realm of electrification is all a part of Ford leaving its mark on history.
