Ford Claims Second Place as Best EV Seller in U.S
Ford recently climbed to second place for the highest number of EV sales in the United States. The Blue Oval became an EV top seller with successful electric vehicles like the Ford F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E. Ford is not planning on stopping there, however. The Blue Oval aims to continue its EV success by offering new electric vehicles like the upcoming Ford Maverick Lightning and Ranger Lightning. While competition in the EV market has grown fierce in the past few months, Ford believes it can hold onto its spot and eventually overtake the current EV leader Tesla. For now, we’ll consider Ford’s progress with its electric vehicles and see where the automaker plans to go from here.
Ford Claims Second Spot In EV Sales
Ford recently claimed the second spot for most electric vehicle sales in the United States. Based on third-party industry data, Ford beat out South Korean automaker Hyundai for the most EV sales in the U.S. While industry leader Tesla continues to dominate the segment, more automakers are releasing electric vehicles. This means that Tesla’s overall market share of EVs will slowly decrease over time. According to the data, Ford acquired more EV segment share this year, up 7.4 percent compared to 5.7 percent last year. Demand for Ford’s EVs continues to climb as it improves its F-150 Lightning and Mach-E. New EVs are also on the way, which means the Blue Oval could continue to move closer to Tesla.
First unveiled in 2021, the all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning has taken the EV market by storm with its impressive capability and versatility. Ford’s all-electric Mustang Mach-E has also provided Mustang fans with a powerful alternative to internal combustion engine vehicles. Ford has continued to improve the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning and the 2023 Mustang Mach-E. These electric vehicles feature improved battery ranges and features. Although other automakers have attempted to compete with Ford, it seems Ford is speeding ahead based on the current sales numbers.Â
Like Ford, many other automakers have either released their EV or teased an upcoming one. To remain ahead of the competition, the Blue Oval will have to continue to improve its EVs by increasing battery range, performance, and versatility. Thankfully Ford has been doing precisely that. Its current EV lineup has seen increased range, and Ford is improving its Blue Cruise driver-assist technology to allow owners to drive hands-free on designated roads. Consumers can also use the U.S. EV tax credit, so Ford will continue to lead EV sales for a while longer.
