Ford Honors the 1966 Bronco with New Heritage Editions
“Bronco captivated America in the mid-’60s with its rugged style and uncompromising off-road agility, a legacy that is still prevalent today. With these new Heritage and Heritage Limited editions, we’re paying respect to Bronco’s roots with nods to some of the signature design cues from the first-generation vehicle, while continuing to build the Bronco Brand with more special editions that our customers want.”
– Ford Bronco Marketing Manager, Mark Gueber
There’s nothing more refreshing than appreciating a flower like exploring its roots, and deep within the Ford Bronco’s roots is the heritage of the 1966 Bronco. For 2023, the Bronco and Bronco Sport feature the fitting Heritage and Heritage Limited editions. The limited edition SUVs will also be obtainable for the two-door, four-door, and Bronco Sport SUVs. Moreover, the automaker of the year will assemble 1,966 units of the Heritage models.
The Bronco Sport Heritage and Heritage Limited edition models are available for order as of now. However, the Bronco two-door and four-door models will approach availability before 2022 comes to a close. Therefore, reservations for the Ford SUV hold priority since enthusiasts patiently await the fulfillment of their reservations. Furthermore, orders will open to everyone by 2023.
Bringing the Past to the Future
The Bronco Heritage features a two-tone paint job with the signature Oxford White accents and a modular hardtop roof. In addition to the modular top, the unique Oxford White grille displays the dynamic Race Red “FORD” lettering. Moreover, the Ford Bronco models the bodyside stripe dial-up that takes fans back to the OG stripe of 1966 and 17-inch aluminum Oxford White heritage wheels.
The Bronco Heritage and Heritage Limited Edition come equipped with a slew of Big Bend series features and equipment. The special edition Ford Bronco model features a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine with the 7-speed manual or the available 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. Moreover, the EcoBoost engine generates up to 300 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque.
Noteworthy standard features or some off-road seekers’ favorites include the Sasquatch Package with a High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension (HOSS) 2.0 with long-travel Bilstein position-sensitive dampers with end-stop control valves for a raised ride height. Furthermore, the limited edition Bronco features Dana electronic locking axles and 35-inch Goodyear mud-terrain tires.
The Ford Bronco Heritage fascinates in five paint color options. First, the Robin Egg Blue is based on the Arcadian Blue of the 1966 Bronco. Then there is the Yellowstone Mettalic, inspired by the Bronco’s 1971 Prairie Yellow. Finally, saving the best for last, there’s the Peak Blue we won’t be able to touch until 2024.
Bronco Sport Heritage Edition
“Bronco Sport has been a hit with compact SUV customers since it arrived two years ago, but it is just as important that we give our customers special editions similar to what we have done with the two- and four-door Bronco. These Heritage Editions are every bit as important to Sport as they are for the rest of the Bronco Brand and we think the iconic themes from the ‘60’s work perfectly on this vehicle.”
-Grueber
The Ford Bronco Sport did not exist in the 1960s, but it’s best not to tell this SUV it didn’t exist yet. Instead, the Bronco Sport superbly epitomizes the Heritage and Heritage Limited Edition.
For the limited edition Bronco Sport, Oxford White accents can be found throughout the SUV, much like the Bronco. However, the Bronco Sport distinguishes itself from its brethren with a distinctively painted roof that emulates the charisma of the original Bronco’s charm.
Both variations of the Heritage Sport SUV feature plaid cloth seats and an instrument panel painted in Navy Pier. Additionally, the Ford Bronco Sport MOLLE strap storage system includes touches of Race Red zipper grips for the front-row seatbacks and Navy Pier straps.
Besides the standardly equipped HOSS system, the limited edition Bronco Sport reveals tuned front struts with hydraulic rebound stops for a delightful off-road adventure. In addition to the HOSS system, the Bronco Sport includes an antiroll bar, 46-millimeter-diameter monotube rear shocks, and tuned springs pad that enhance the comfort of the off-road venture. Furthermore, the limited-edition Ford SUV acquires GOAT Mode, the Terrain Management System. GOAT mode is anxious to “Go Over Any Type of Terrain” with standard modes that include Normal, Eco, Slippery, Sport, and Sand.
The Ford Bronco Sport Heritage carries a starting cost of $34,245*. The Bronco Sport Heritage Limited premiers at $44,655*. Also, the Ford Bronco Heritage Edition will start at $44,305*, and the Bronco Heritage Limited edition will begin at $66,895*.
