Ford adds a blacked-out visual package with a matte-black wrap, special badging, and other black trim elements. This new package is coming to the F-150 Lightning as the Platinum Black special edition.

2024 Ford F-150 Lightning

The 2024 F-150 Lightning Platinum Black will be available in limited quantities, 2000 units to be exact, and deliveries are scheduled to start in early 2024. The Platinum Black and this new package deal wrap the entire electric-powered truck in matte black, together with special badging, wheels, lighting, and interior bits. It sits on 22-inch matte black wheels and black lug nuts; there is Black Ford Oval badging and all-black U.S. flag badging unique to this model; power-deployable running boards with Agate Black gloss accents; a soft-shell black tonneau cover for the bed; a unique smoked signature light bar; reflective black-on-black Lightning badging; an Agate Black gloss roof that blends in with the glass roof panel; “Lightning” graphics on roof glass above passenger seating; Agate Black door handles; and Luxe black premium Nirvana leather seating. The vinyl wrap itself is from a supplier, 3M, and Ford is supplying a 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty for the wrap specifically.

“Ford is no stranger to limited-edition vehicles – and the F-150 Lightning Platinum Black is taking our award-winning electric truck to new levels of stealth and style. This is the perfect choice for those customers looking to make a statement.”  – Dave Pericak, director of Ford EV truck programs.

Ford will also roll out a brand new update to all F-150 Lightning customers that will now permit them to apply the Pro Power Onboard system with 9.6 kW of exportable power while the truck is switched off, with an advanced user interface for a clearer understanding of the truck’s available power levels. The updates will even introduce Walk Away Locking for the Lightning, permitting the purchaser to lock the vehicle with a passive key or authorized cell phone device. The Platinum Black comes standard with the Extended Range battery p.c. and the 580-hp dual-motor powertrain configuration. Ford claims it will supply the same 300-mile EPA-rated range as the standard Platinum. The F-150 Lightning starts at an MSRP of 97,995 (plus destination fees).

The F-150 Lightning family comes in Pro, XLT, Lariat, and Platinum. The F-150 Lightning is properly equipped; it could tow as much as 10,000 pounds, which isn’t far off the capability of its gas-powered siblings.  The Lightning does compensate for the utility front with a few cool features, such as a large front trunk and a Pro Power Onboard feature that includes household-style electric plugs that may be used to power equipment and other electronic devices. The F-150 Lightning is usually recommended to anyone in want of a utility-focused EV.

The front seats are supportive and can be ready with heating, ventilation, three-level lumbar adjustment, or even a massaging function. The available Max Recline front seats can recline to provide an almost flat seat to rest or take a nap. The Lightning features a completely independent rear suspension, which provides a smoother ride and is an exact upgrade from the standard regular F-150. The climate control system is effective and powerful, requiring little adjustment to keep the desired temperature.
