Ford to Provide New Cabin Air Filters for its Lineup
As the world combats the global climate crisis, many have been looking toward renewable and sustainable solutions. Many of these have involved reducing carbon emissions and reducing consumption. One such solution developed by Ford offers a direct approach with a more immediate effect. Called Ford Refresh95, the new certified cabin air filters announced by Ford will come installed in Ford vehicles like the Bronco Sport, Ford Escape, Ford Explorer, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and the Ford Maverick. Ford’s high-quality air filters may be a solution to the current climate crisis that has lasting effects on the entire auto industry.Â
The New Ford Refresh95 Cabin Air Filters
Ford has been moving to place more emphasis on the consumer and their safety. With its new cabin air filter, Ford is providing consumers with a cleaner experience. Ford’s Refresh95 air filters help clean the interior cabin of vehicles. Ford has stated that they put their new filters through comprehensive lab certification testing in order to ensure their effectiveness. Tests like pressure drop testing allowed Ford to verify the applicability of their new filters. All this was to guarantee Ford consumers have the best of the best, both inside and outside their vehicles.
According to Ford, their new filters can help remove at least 95 percent of 2.5-micron sized particles. These include traffic exhaust, organic materials, and road dust particles. In addition to these microscopic particles, Ford’s new Refresh95 air filters help reduce allergens. By trapping 99 percent of allergens like pollen and dust, drivers of Ford vehicles can know their health is being prioritized. Ford’s air filters also reduce airborne concentrations of bacteria-sized particles. They also help filter out matter found in smog and soot.Â
The reason for the new air filter systems comes from information from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). According to the EPA, particles less than 10 microns in diameter, especially those less than 2.5 microns, pose the greatest health risks. For context, the average human hair follicle is about 70 microns. That such small and microscopic particles could have drastic effects on our health is a major cause for concern.
Luckily, Ford is preparing for the future. The Ford Refresh95 air filters will start showing up in Ford vehicles later in 2021. Select vehicles like the Ford Bronco Sport, Ford Escape, Ford Explorer, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and the Ford Maverick will have these new filters preinstalled. Eventually, Ford will include the new filters in the majority of its lineup, supposedly by the end of 2023. This will certainly have a domino effect on other automakers as they work to provide their consumers with similar if not better air filters and safety standards.Â
