Ford to Release its Final Ford GT

Ford will be producing its last line of Ford GTs. The Blue Oval has decided to cut its race car production after 2022. With Ford’s heavy focus on EVs, this doesn’t come as much of a surprise. According to the automaker, it wants to have at least half of its lineup fully electric by 2030. Ford’s powerful F-150 Lightning and Mach-E have been seeing a lot of success. Ford is hoping its EV success more EVs like the Maverick Lightning. While it is sad to say goodbye to the iconic Le Mans winner, the 2022 Ford GT LM will still be remembered for its high performance. Ford will only produce 20 more vehicles. At an MSRP of $500,000 (plus destination fee), we’ll look at the race car and see what consumers can expect from the last Ford GT.

Ford to Offer its Final 2022 Ford GT LM

Ford has decided to cut production of the Ford GT. The Blue Oval will only produce 20 more units of the iconic race car, which will be known as the Ford GT LM. This last set of Ford GTs will honor Ford’s Le Mans’ success by featuring remnants of the iconic race. The race cars will feature the interior colors and hues of the Le Mans-winning car. Racing powerhouse Multimatic will also work on and produce the Ford GT LM. 

Owers of the 2022 Ford GT LM will have the choice between a red or blue interior trim. The race car will also have carbon fiber pieces like its splitter, sills, and diffuser feature similar tints and hues. The seats will be made from carbon fiber material and will be wrapped in an Alcantara trim. One attractive characteristic about the race car is that the driver’s seat has the option between colors, but the passenger seat only gets black. This may be a unique distinction for the driver.

The Ford GT LM is a powerful, high-performance race car equipped with a twin-turbo 3.5L V6 engine. This offers an impressive 660 horsepower and 550lb-ft of torque. It is also paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. One additional element that will be added to the Ford GT is a special 3D-printed plaque. This plaque will be made from materials from the LMGTE Pro race car that competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans competition in 2016. With its last Ford GT, the Blue Oval wanted to ensure that the 2022 Ford GT LM would commemorate the legacy of the race car.
