Ford Unveils Ford Expedition Timberline Concept
Ford will be revealing the Ford Expedition Timberline Off-Grid concept vehicle at the Overland Expo East in Arrington, Virginia. The full-sized SUV will be an updated version of the Expedition Timberline that enhances off-road capabilities. Ford wanted to create a vehicle specific to the popular pastime of Overlanding. Overlanding combines off-roading and camping. With the new Ford Expedition Timberline, those looking to partake in Overlanding will have everything they need within arm’s length. Ford recently refreshed the Expedition model with sharper styling and an off-road Timberline trim. The new Off-Grid concept SUV takes the Expedition even further.Â
New Timberline Concept, Off-Grid
Ford will be revealing the new Expedition Timberline concept vehicle at the Arrington, Virginia Overland Expo East show. Ford will be using its Expedition Timberline trim as the base model and they will be adding several modifications and enhancements to make it more Overlanding friendly. Ford will be painting the Off-Grid concept SUV a Forged Green color and it will add a topographic wrap from CG Detroit. Ford will also be boosting the ground clearance by two inches taking the SUV to a sturdy 12.6 inches. The SUV will also get Fox Performance Elite Series 2.5-inch shocks with dual-speed compression adjusters.
Ford’s Off-Grid concept SUV will feature 17-inch Method Race wheels and 35-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires. The SUV will also have DeeZee Rock Rail Hoop Steps for easier access. Alongside this, Ford will outfit the concept SUV with several accessories. These will include a Thule Tepui Explorer tent, an Overland Vehicle Systems Nomadic 180-degree awning, and a WildLand portable shower. Ford has stated that it will also include a transmission shield and auxiliary lighting for nighttime trail driving. A 50-inch Rigid light bar above the windshield, a 20-inch rigid light bar beneath the grille, and D-SS Rigid cube lights on the hood will accompany the off-road SUV. There will also be lights placed within the wheel wells and liftgate.Â
Inside the Off-Grid concept SUV, Ford will be adding a Luno camping mattress capable of fitting two. Ford will also include an EZ STAK aluminum storage unit, window shades, and a portable USB fan. The Off-Grid SUV will have a Clarios AGM battery which will provide electricity for any gadgets. Ford’s new concept vehicle will feature a Turtleback Expedition Series Trailer which will carry camping essentials like a two-burner propane stove and a deep-well sink. The trailer will also feature a 42-gallon water tank and a 6-gallon water heater. The Ford Expedition Timberline concept SUV will first be shown at the Overland Expo East show. Afterward, it will debut at the SEMA show in Las Vegas. We’ll get to learn more about the Overlanding SUV then, but as of now, it looks very versatile and more than capable.Â
