Is the Ford F-150 Lightning Better than the F-150?

Trucks are not simply a part of life but a crucial part of a lifestyle. Pickups once functioned as an instrument to help with a substantial workload. Today, the vehicle is ideal for those football practice hauls and essential to everyday routines. The current generation of pickups offers a plush cabin with spacious accommodations, the stamina to tend to weekend chores, and the resilience of a hundred oxen. Nevertheless, how frequently do pickup fans appreciate their truck beds? The results may be shocking, but the researchers of Ford studied F-150 and F-150 Lightning consumers. So here’s what the research concluded.
Amidst September 2021 and October 2022, around 3,500 Ford F-150 fans answered surveys for the American automaker. Then the all-electric Lightning enthusiasts took ownership of their battery-operated pickup in April 2022. However, there is some clarification about how many electric lovers took the survey compared to those with the ICE (internal combustible engine) F-150.
The Results are in
Thanks to the survey data and follow-up discussions. The Blue Oval decided existing Lightning owners used their truck beds more than gas-engined F-150 owners. Additionally, the research indicated that 74% of F-150 Lightning consumers employ their pickups once a month for home projects. A few of those house tasks include picking up gardening supplies, hauling lumber, towing appliances, and so much more.
Compare Ford F-150 Lightning consumers who appreciate their truck beds to the 51% who utilize their beds on the gas-engined F-150. The survey notes that 27% of EV F-150 owners employ their truck bed more than once a month. Similarly, only 14% of F-150 owners take advantage of the same task. Then 48% of F-150 Lightning owners use the truck for monthly camping trips compared to 40% of gas engine drivers.
So Who Decided to Go Electric and Why Does it Matter?
The Ford survey also offered insight into the consumer demographic for the F-150 Lightning. The research revealed that 60% of all-electric F-150 consumers are below 50. In addition to the youthful drivers, progressive owners prefer Apple Play over Android Auto. Furthermore, 90% of the electric F-150 consumers have evolved from non-electric vehicles.
Unsurprisingly, the Ford F-150 Lightning consumers would use their truck more than those that own the traditional F-150. Fresh and enticing technology is exciting, and regarding a new truck, going on a camping excursion maximizes enthusiasm.
“These people finally get their first pickup, and they’re excited. They use it like crazy,” said Mase, who has been with the automaker for more than 25 years. “They have the freedom to have wet and dirty storage in the bed and use dry storage up front (in the front trunk), which is massive. I coach baseball and throw the dirty gear in the box and groceries and nice things in the frunk.”
– Jason Mase, Ford Marketing General Manager for Electric Vehicles
So What Does This Research Mean?
It doesn’t matter what the information renders; pickup lovers own pickups. Suppose the pickup is diesel, gas, hydrogen, or electric it doesn’t matter. The Ford research demonstrated that the F-150 Lightning calls to truck enthusiasts eager to fulfill their truck lifestyle.
