Next-Gen F-150 Slated for 2025

New exteriors are enticing, and often consumers grow infatuated with designs instead of what’s under the hood—even going as far as purchasing the exact vehicle with a different body style. So a lot of fans expected the 2021 Ford F-150 to receive a complete refresh, but the expectation can wait four more years. Unfortunately, the fourteenth gen model F-150 will receive an update by 2025.     

Even though there’s some time for that teenage refresh, the multiple trick pony automaker has its hands full with the F-150 2022 model. Just take a look at the launch of the all-electric F-150 Lightning. Reservations for the Lightning have reached a monstrous 120,000 so far, with Ford doubling production for the Lightning at the new Ford Rogue Electric Vehicle Center.

It’s uncertain how many reservations will receive fulfillment, but one thing is for sure, it’ll be a while before consumers find an F-150 Lightning truck on the lot. Once the all-electric pickup is available, acquiring a discount for the pickup truck will require a bit of face-to-face action. Ford does not want the Lightning advertised lower than the MSRP. However, dealers maintain the right to sell the truck at a discounted price. 

Then there’s the other grand debut, the 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor R. The Raptor R’s powered by Ford’s supercharged 5.2-L Predator V8. Additionally, the Raptor produces 750 horsepower, which is enough horsepower to send the competitors back to the drawing board like the Ram TRX supercharged 6.2L Hemi V8 with 702 horsepower.   

The 2021 Ram TRX has a heavy contender in its midst with the Raptor R. Even with the TRX providing a supercharged 6.2L Hemi V8  producing 702 horsepower, 650 lb-ft of torque, acceleration of 0-60 in less than five seconds, and tackling a quarter-mile in less than 13 seconds. Ram refers to the TRX as the “quickest and most powerful mass-produced truck in the world.” But it’s apparent Ram didn’t foresee the F-150 Raptor R closing in through the rearview.
