On the Trail or Trailing the City, Here’s A Look at the New 2022 Ford Expedition
The 2021 Ford Expedition earned critical acclaim with the 2021 Best Buy Award in the Full-Size SUV class. But 2021 isn’t the SUV’s first time topping the list. Instead, it’s the third time the Expedition reigns supreme. Yet, even with the accolades, Ford acknowledges the room for improvement with a new face, trim levels, and updated technology.
There’s not a drastic change from the 2021 Ford Expedition, but there are subtle differences. The Ford SUV receives a settled redesign for the inside and outside.
Set to premiere at early 2022, availability and price will also arrive right before that time. However, consumers should keep in mind the 2021 model starts at $50,595* MSRP and ranges to $75,000* MSRP with a destination of $1,695.
The Inside Beauty Matches the Outside
Approach the Ford Expedition, and the vehicle welcomes you to a new facelift, starting at the grille. The new LED headlights extend the vehicle’s character lines from the grille to the frame making sure the lights don’t appear too small on the large car.
The rearview mirror also faced an adjustment with the Expedition name stretching across the tailgate above the chrome bar instead of the previous etching.
Step inside the Expedition and times have changed. The 2022 Expedition sits lower and appears cozy. The reason for the spacing is a more extensive infotainment system. The 2021 Expedition carries a pitiful 8-inch screen, whereas the standard 2022 Expedition holds a 12-inch screen, and a 15-inch screen is optional. There’s a 12-inch screen for the analog instrument cluster in the Upper trims as well.
The 2022 Expedition receives over-the-air software updates, with entertainment and information updates well after the Expedition becomes a second home.
TIMBERRRRRRRRRRR-line Edition
Now for the biggest news of all, the specialized trims. Just look at the off-road-oriented Timberline edition. The Timberline sits 0.8 inches higher than the standard Expedition. The Timberline trim also rides on 33-inch tires for those wider tracks. In addition, the Timberline safety technology includes trail turn assist, which tightens the turning radius for those narrow trails. It will not be difficult to spot a Timberline edition Expedition because of its black wheels and orange accents on the bumper.
Stealth Mode
Not interested in off-roading? No problem! The Stealth Edition Performance Package covers those smooth paved surfaces with ease. In addition, the Stealth edition receives an adaptive suspension for sportier handling.
The Stealth trim holds a gloss-black grille, mirror caps, roof rails, rear bumper skid plate, running boards, and Ford emblems. It cruises on 22-inch black aluminum wheels with red brake calipers as well.
