Intelligent Range 

The Ford-exclusive Intelligent Range is the magic behind the F-150 Lightning’s towing confidence. Intelligent Range accumulates the vehicle’s data to evaluate how much electrical energy drivers are actively using. Additionally, Intelligent Range collects the traffic speed, ambient temperature, current battery capacity, driver traditions, climate control usage, and route topography. Moreover, the system also computes data from the cloud to measure energy usage from similar Ford EVs. The cloud computation provides a more precise vehicle range computation over time.

“Whether you’re towing with a gas-powered or electric truck, range degradation as a percentage is basically the same – determined primarily by overall cargo and trailer weight at low speeds and by the aerodynamic profile at higher speeds. “That’s why we expanded the capabilities of Intelligent Range on the F-150 Lightning with the available Onboard scales to also measure the load effects of trailers and cargo to further refine range calculations when towing.” -Zhang 

Power My Trip

With its online mapping system, the Power My Trip instills Lightning drivers with even more towing confidence. F-150 Lightning enthusiasts can map out their trips and simply input the trailers’ information into the Trailer Profile. Lightning drivers would need to enter their destination into Ford’s SYNC 4/4A navigation system through the FordPass App. When the location is locked in, Power My Trip maps the electric pickup towing route by way of Intelligent Range and also provides the nearest charging location when essential.
