Dubbed the F-150 Lightning Pro Special Service Vehicle (SVV), this new F-150 Lightning trim has been designed specifically for police officers. This special service electric pickup truck takes the already powerful F-150 Lightning and adds some upgrades to help officers do their job more efficiently. Ford has received numerous praise for its electric pickup and now the Blue Oval has decided to make it available for those who help protect and serve communities. Ford has had a long-time partnership with police departments and this is just the latest collaboration. We’ll take a look at the all-new 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro SVV and see what police responders can expect.

Ford Unveils F-150 Lightning Pro Special Service Vehicle

Ford recently unveiled the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro Special Service Vehicle (SVV). This new and exclusive trim has been designed specifically for police departments across the United States. It will serve as the first electric pickup to be used by police departments. This collaboration between the Blue Oval and police departments is nothing new as they have been working together for more than 70 years. This new trim is the latest development between the two and it serves as a way to provide police departments with highly efficient and capable EVs.

The 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning SVV will come equipped with all the powerful equipment used in the base F-150 Lightning. As it is a special service vehicle, Ford has made sure to add additional equipment to help officers. The Lightning SVV has been designed to help police during accidents, crime scenes, and day-to-day interactions. Departments will have the choice between the standard-range battery that is capable of 452 horsepower and 775lb-ft of torque and the extended-range battery which provides 580 horsepower. The extended-range battery also offers up to 10,000 pounds of towing capacity.

For exclusive police officer equipment, the F-150 Lightning SVV features police-grade heavy-duty cloth seats, built-in steel intrusion plates, and roof-mounted LED warning beacons. The electric pickup also comes with a reinforced instrument panel top tray for police equipment. For safety, officers can make use of Ford Co-Pilot360 technology which includes automatic emergency braking, blindspot information, and more. About the partnership, Ford Pro national government sales manager Nate Oscarson said,

“We’re proud to offer America’s first electric police pickup truck to local government customers who can use the truck’s game-changing technology to help improve their productivity,” said Nate Oscarson. “Pro Power Onboard can serve as a mobile power source to light up evening accident scenes on the highway, the electric powertrain helps to potentially reduce costs associated with fuel and scheduled maintenance needs and the Mega Power Frunk provides extra lockable storage on top of purpose-built police additions our customers have come to expect from the leader in police vehicles.”
