National Park to Recieve Ford Bronco Widland SUV
Ford Motor Company and the Bronco Wild Fund have generously donated a Bronco Badlands® SUV with a Sasquatch® off-road package to the National Park Service. The resurrected icon will act as a firefighting command vehicle in Bandelier National Monument, a crucial step in addressing the increasing threat of wildfires. This donation is a testament to the commitment of these organizations to support the safety of our national parks and the people who visit them.
“For more than a century Ford has supported fire response and disaster relief efforts by deploying vehicles to provide emergency transportation and power and deliver essential goods. Bronco Wild Fund was created because of our passion for the outdoors, and we’re excited to donate the Bronco wildland firefighting command rig to Bandelier to help protect this National Monument for generations to come.”
-Dave Rivers, Ford Enthusiast Brand Manager
The Bronco wildland firefighting command rig is a fantastic contribution to firefighting efforts, and it trails the reveal of the Bronco + Filson Wildland Fire Rig Concept. Like the Badlands concept, the rig is being donated through the Ford Bronco Wild Fund. The Bronco Wild Fund is dedicated to increasing access, preservation, and stewardship of public lands. It’s impressive to witness the Blue Ovals’ commitment to building a more sustainable and inclusive future on The Road to Better.
The Bronco Wild Fund is a reflection of that commitment, and it shows a deep respect for our public lands. Ford is rampant in their commitment to helping those lands continue to be a world of wonder for all. So far, the Bronco Wild Fund has donated more than $3.7 million to diverse causes, including America’s State Parks, the National Forest Foundation, Outward Bound, and Sons of Smokey.
The Bandelier National Monument in northern New Mexico is a stunning natural wonder with rugged canyons and mesas that hold petroglyphs, cliff dwellings, and evidence of human presence dating back over 11,000 years. The national monument is two hours north of Albuquerque, and it’s a great place to explore climate change. The park has a rich history of natural fire occurrences, and as the fire season grows longer, the park is experiencing more repeated fires in the same landscape.
“I want to thank Ford for this generous donation. Over the last 20 years, warmer temperatures and stronger winds have resulted in bigger fires that are harder to predict and manage. These more resource-intensive fires have a real impact on Bandelier’s firefighting corps, and this donation will help us manage fires better. It will also help to minimize impact to the park’s affiliated tribes, who have traditionally used park land for cultural, economic, and spiritual reasons.”
-Patrick Suddath, Superintendent of Bandelier National Monument
Darley, a global manufacturer and distributor of defense, is currently developing two Broncos that will be donated to the National Park Services and a wildland firefighting agency. The Ford Bronco Wildlife pilot program aims to create a tool that addresses an unmet need in firefighting by providing a deeper command position with reliable and redundant connectivity and facilitating the acquisition and sharing of valuable information that can aid firefighters in their work. We look forward to witnessing other solutions the Blue Oval employs to keep us safe.
