New Track-Only Ford Mustang Dark Horse Makes its Debut
“For decades, Mustang has competed against the most premium brands on the greatest world stages and won. We surprised everyone, and we’re going to surprise them again with a track-capable Mustang that puts a new level of performance, styling and American engineering in the hands of everyday customers who still want the thrill and excitement of a V8 sports car.”Â
– CEO of Ford Motor Company, Jim Farley
Hotter than Katy Perry on an “Egyptian Bed,” the true Dark Horse has arrived. That’s right; Ford recently debuted the Mustang Dark Horse. Once the sports car premiered, photos captured a wicked captivator that only intensifies through the rambunctious 5.0-liter V8 forging 500 horsepower. Furthermore, the Ford Mustang extends a definitive lineup for the automaker’s street and track performance.Â
Ford engineers, designers, and specialists took three years to erect the Mustang Dark Horse. The sports car is a street and track-inclined performer with breathtaking design lines and the performance we’ve grown to anticipate and love from the Mustang gang. Moreover, the Mustang Bullitt was established in 2001, and the new Dark Horse makes history as the first performance name for the brand.Â
What Does Ford Have in Store for the Dark Horse?Â
The Dark Horse is one gorgeous beauty from the Blue Oval’s stable, born to break records on the race track. In addition, the Ford sports car is the first installation in a line of six new race cars from the American automaker. Furthermore, the six variations of the Mustang will compete globally in different races, such as the GT3, GT4, NASCAR, and NHRA Factory X racing.Â
Eventually, the Blue Oval automaker will release two variations of the Mustang Dark Horse. Both sports cars will employ power from the 5.0-liter V8 engine. In addition, the Ford Mustangs will be limited to racers and non-street use. The Dark Horse S model is the sweet escape eager to tear up the weekend racetrack. In contrast, Ford created the Mustang Dark Horse R model exclusively for racing.Â
“We’re taking this all-new Mustang to competition racing and the very definition of a Dark Horse is the perfect fit to introduce this vehicle to the Mustang brand. With our race program development underway, we’re confident we have the right car for success.”Â
-Global Director, Ford Performance Motorsports, Mark Rushbrook
The birth of the Dark Horse means that the automaker of the year is ready to rewrite history at the GT3 racetrack. For any Mustang enthusiast who desires a superior performance experience, the Mustang GT3 IMSA race car will debut at the beginning of the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2024. In addition, the Mustang GT3 race car came to completion through Ford Performance and Multimatic collaboration. Furthermore, the GT3 IMSA race car erupts to life through the 5.4-liter Coyote-based V8 engine.Â
Hey, don’t forget the new Ford Mustang GT4 will premiere in 2023, and its global attainability in classes extends to the IMSA, SRO, and FIA GT. In addition, there’s a new variation of the Mustang set to premiere in the Australian Supercars series. Moreover, newly developed models of the Ford Mustang will debut at the NASCAR Cup series and NHRA Factory X racing.Â
