The 2024 Ford F-150 Lineup Offers A Smarter, Ready-for-Action Truck

The 2024 Ford F-150 lineup, which includes the impressive F-150 Raptor R with its 720 horsepower, features thoughtful upgrades throughout the range, particularly in the tech department. These enhancements make the American pickup smarter and more ready for action.

Off the Road: 2024 Ford F-150 Tremor

The Tremor trim sits between the basic FX4 Off-Road package and the more extreme Raptor. It gets the same visual updates as other F-150s and offers an optional new modular front bumper shared with the Tremor and Raptor. While there are no mechanical changes, the Tremor has technology upgrades that make it a strong performer off-road.

The Tremor features Trail Control, an off-road cruise control that maintains a set speed on inclines and declines. It also has Trail 1-Pedal Drive mode, which activates the brakes as the throttle is released, making it easier to navigate craggy hills. Furthermore, Trail Turn Assist reduces the turning circle by braking the rear inside wheel, aiding in navigating tight mountain passes.

Deflate the tires to about 22 psi for better grip on rocky terrain and then inflate back for pavement driving using a portable air compressor. The Tremor comes with a 2.0-kW Pro Power Onboard inverter as standard, and the new Pro Access Tailgate enhances bed access with its split swing door and three detents, including one at 37 degrees to avoid hitting an attached trailer.

On the Road: F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid and BlueCruise

The 2024 Ford F-150 features standardized 12.0-inch digital gauge clusters and 12.0-inch central touchscreens. A significant update is the addition of BlueCruise 1.2, Ford’s latest hands-free highway driving aid. Ford’s Blue Cruise system engages on approved pre-mapped highways, allowing for hands-free driving with smooth engagement and clear prompts for driver re-engagement when necessary. Further, the smart system holds lane positions well, can adjust within the lane for passing wide loads, and suggests and executes lane changes.

The PowerBoost hybrid, unchanged for 2024, includes a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 paired with a 47-hp electric motor and a 1.5-kWh lithium-ion battery, producing a combined 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque. The powertrain delivers strong performance and can tow up to 11,200 pounds. Adding an available head-up display for 2024 brings driving aid indicators closer to eye level, enhancing the driving experience, though it can be challenging to see with polarized sunglasses.
