Powertrain 

The Ford F-150 Lightning is available in four trims: the Base, XLT, Lariat, and Platinum. Every trim features four-wheel drive, which is essential for exhilarating off-road adventures. Additionally, the Ford F-150 Lightning is available in two different battery packs: Standard and Extended Range. The Lightning’s Base model premiers 426 horsepower, a robust 775 lb-ft of torque, and 230 miles of range. 

The Extended Range battery model holds 563 horsepower, 775 lb-ft of torque, and 300 miles of range. Additionally, the Lightning features an 80-amp charge station for charging at home, which comes to 100 percent charge in eight hours. The optional 150-kWh DC fast charger provides an extended-range Lightning with 54 miles of range in 10 minutes. Furthermore, the DC fast charger will charge the battery from 15 percent to 80 percent in under 45 minutes. 

BlueCruise

Although the F-150 Lightning features Ford’s hands-free highway driving technology, the Mustang Mach-E will also feature BlueCruise. However, BlueCruise is only available when the electric vehicles include Ford Co-Pilot 360 Active 2.0 Prep Package. Ford’s BlueCruise system employs an advanced camera and radar-sensing technology which amplifies Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Lane Centering, and Speed Sign Recognition for a hands-free driving system. 

Intelligent Backup Power

The F-150 Lightning is not only built for manual labor, but the pickup may also be utilized as a generator. For instance, a year ago (2021), Ford’s Powerboost generator stepped up to the plate when Texas’s power grid failed to function. The Onboard generator attained a lot of press coverage in that disparaging time, and Ford’s Intelligent Backup Power system is just as capable. The Backup Power system supplies up to 9.6 kilowatts of power to a home in case of any emergency. Moreover, the system can power tools and electronics without an electrical supply. 

Ford Intelligent Power 

Ford Intelligent Power is a feature that demonstrates the automakers’ persistence towards a sustainable future. The Power system will reach enthusiasts sometime soon. Yet, when it does the Lightning will be able to power a home. Additionally, Ford gas partnered with the solar power company SunRun. The partnership will bring forth 80-amp chargers and home integration effortless.
