Ford Expands BlueOval Charging Network to Boost EV Adoption

Ford’s BlueOval network differs from conventional charging networks that only operate through their charging stations, like ChargePoint or EVgo. Instead, Ford has formed strategic partnerships with Blink, Francis Energy, and Red E, creating a network of charging stations that covers the United States and Canada. The electric vehicle charging network has made significant progress in recent years, with over 106,000 charging stations available, including 11,800 fast charging stations. This number is expected to grow even more in the coming years as more people switch to electric vehicles.

In a major development, Ford announced its EVs will soon be compatible with Tesla’s Supercharger network. This will be possible with the help of an adapter that will be available for vehicles manufactured until 2024. Even current Ford EV owners can use Tesla’s charging network thanks to this adapter.

Starting in 2025, Ford’s EVs will have the same NACS plugs as Teslas, which eliminates the need for an adapter altogether. This move will make charging more convenient for Ford EV owners and further promote the adoption of electric vehicles.
