The 2023 Ford Maverick combines the best of both worlds. With hybrid capabilities, the compact pickup truck offers impressive performance and fuel efficiency. While Ford initially offered the Maverick as an introduction to EVs, the Blue Oval has seen overwhelming success with its all-electric F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E. Despite this success, the 2023 Maverick is there for those not yet ready to make the full switch to EVs. For those in need of a combustion engine work truck, there’s the Maverick. Starting at an MSRP of $22,195 (plus destination fee), here are 5 reasons why consumers should consider the 2023 Ford Maverick.

1) Engine

The 2023 Ford Maverick is not only affordable but also versatile. The compact pickup arrives with a naturally aspirated 2.5L four-cylinder engine that’s paired with an electric motor. Together this setup delivers 191 horsepower and 155lb-ft of torque. It also pairs with a continuously variable automatic transmission and offers front-wheel drive. This hybrid setup provides owners with impressive fuel economy and strong performance.

For an increase in performance, the 2023 Maverick can be equipped with a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine. This is no longer a hybrid setup but it delivers 250 horsepower and 277lb-ft of torque. It also pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive is optional. With the 2.0L, owners will enjoy a 0-60 mph of 5.9 seconds.

2) Towing

The second reason to consider the 2023 Ford Maverick is its towing capacity. The compact pickup truck offers impressive versatility with both its hybrid and non-hybrid powertrain. When equipped with the hybrid powertrain, the Maverick gets a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds and a payload capacity of 1,500 pounds. When using the turbocharged engine, the maximum towing capacity increases to 4,000 pounds.

3) Fuel Economy

Those consumers who opt for the hybrid powertrain will note the 2023 Ford Maverick’s unmatched fuel economy. In the city, the compact pickup gets 42 mpg in the city with the 2.5L. On the highway, it gets 33 mpg. Combined, the pickup gets 37 mpg. While the non-hybrid setup increases performance, it reduces fuel efficiency. With the 2.0L owners will receive 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.

4) Interior

The interior cabin increases the appeal of the 2023 Maverick. Offered with a crew cab setup, the compact pickup can comfortably fit 5 passengers. With higher trims like the XLT and Lariat, owners will receive premium features like dual-zone climate controls, viny desert brown seats, and ambient lighting. Wide armrests ensure comfortable drives and for storage, there’s 33.3 cubic feet of space. There are also several storage cubbies and bins to help with this. Of course, there’s also the 4.5-foot bed that comes with a 12-volt power point and a 110-volt outlet.

5) Safety and Driver-Assist Features

The 2023 Ford Maverick offers owners Ford CoPilot 360 which is an advanced safety suite. This suite offers features such as automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, and lane departure warnings. Owners also have access to a reverse camera system that works with the 8-inch touchscreen. Finally, owners can take advantage of adaptive cruise control.
