IIHS Scores 2023 Ford Escape With ‘Good’ Rating in Safety Test

The 2023 Ford Escape recently managed to score a ‘Good’ safety rating in a test from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Established in 1959, the IIHS serves as a nonprofit organization that aims to reduce traffic collisions. The organization utilizes tests and inspections to determine the overall safety afforded by different vehicles. With the 2023 Ford Escape, the IIHS conducted a new test called the front overlap crash test. Although 15 SUVs were tested, only the Escape and one other vehicle were able to receive a top safety rating of ‘Good.’ This demonstrates Ford’s dedication to offering highly capable and safe vehicles. 2023 Ford Escape Earns Top Safety Rating

The 2023 Ford Escape was recently awarded a top safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The nonprofit organization is known for conducting tests and inspections to determine the level of safety afforded by various vehicles. The IIHS’s most recent test involved a front overlap crash. This test measured the impact on rear-seat occupants and front passengers. Out of the 15 SUVs tested, the Ford Escape was one of two to earn the highest ‘Good’ safety rating. The compact SUV was also awarded a top safety pick for its specific headlights.

The 2023 Ford Escape was recently given a new redesign. Ford gave the compact SUV new styling both inside and out. The Blue Oval also gave the Escape a sporty new ST-Line trim as well as several hybrid versions. For its engine choices, owners can opt for either a 1.5L EcoBoost engine or a 2.0L EcoBoost engine. The 1.5L delivers 180 horsepower and can be paired with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. As for the 2.0L, it delivers 250 horsepower and pairs with all-wheel drive. Owners of the Ford Escape can also choose a hybrid option that utilizes a 2.5L hybrid engine. This engine comes with an electronic continuously variable transmission and offers 210 horsepower.

Along with its high standard of safety, the 2023 Ford Escape also offers several driver-assist and safety features. Some of these features include adaptive cruise control and predictive speed assist. There’s also a 360-degree camera and Ford Co-Pilot 360 technology. This technology helps drivers avoid potential collisions with pedestrians. Other safety features include blind spot assist, rear cross-traffic braking, cross-traffic alerts, and more. The 2023 Ford Escape starts at an MSRP of $27,500 (plus destination fee) and proves to be a reliable and highly capable compact SUV.
