Ford’s F-150 Raptor R Will Feature an All-New Supercharged V8 Engine

The Ford F-150 Raptor R with soon arrive with an all-new supercharged V8 engine. The F-150 Raptor R has already made a name for itself as part of the Ford Raptor family, but this new V8 engine will put it in another league. The full-size pickup will see even greater performance and capability thanks to the supercharged engine that’s supposedly similar to the one used in the Shelby Mustang GT500.  As of late, Ford has busy been working on its all-electric F-150 Lightning and Ford Mustang Mach-E. This hasn’t stopped the Blue Oval from improving its combustion engine lineup however which is great news as it means consumers will be able to choose between powerful combustion engine vehicles and electric ones. For now, we’ll take a look at the Ford F-150 Raptor R and see what other additions consumers can expect. 

F-150 Raptor R to Come Equipped with Supercharged V8

The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R will arrive with an all-new supercharged V8 engine. Upon its debut, the Raptor R was stated to eventually feature a new V8 engine. Now that time has come as Ford will equip the full-size pickup with a new engine that should drastically increase its performance. The V8 engine will come courtesy of Ford Performance so it’s very likely the engine will be top of the line. It may even be similar to the Shelby Mustang GT500’s engine which is a 5.2L V8 capable of 760 horsepower and 625lb-ft of torque. Ford communications representative Mike Levine recently spoke about the Raptor R. He said,  

“We’re not stopping with the Ford Bronco Raptor. The Raptor line continues with the F-150 Raptor R. Details to come.” 

Ford has not yet released any performance metrics about the Raptor R’s new engine. Despite this, based on Ford Performance’s track record, it’s safe to say that the new engine will feature impressive performance. It’s also likely that Ford will improve the full-size pickup’s ruggedness. This means adding 37-inch tires as well as an off-road optimized suspension to the Raptor R. The Ford F-150 Raptor R will also feature a 10 automatic transmission, similar to the F-150 Raptor. The pickup truck will also have a 9.75-inch rear axle with an electronically controlled rear differential. For those interested, the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R will likely be available in the Fall of 2022.
